Theatre Breaks Education launch new tours - 22/07/2010
Theatre Breaks Education has launched a new range of tours, specialising in primary and secondary schools, which are available as either day trips or overnight stays.
For A-Level students, the featured play is Birdsong, based on the novel by Sebastian Faulks. Directed by Trevor Nunn, it is due to run between the 18th September and the 15th January at the Comedy Theatre in London. While staying as the guest of a factory owner in France, the protagonist of the novel, Stephen Wraysford embarks on a passionate affair with Isabelle, the wife of his host. A few years later, Stephen finds himself back in the same part of France, but this time at the Battle of the Somme during World War One.
The Birdsong itinerary comprises a bespoke workshop based on the novel, prior to watching the performance in the evening, and a trip to the Globe theatre, with a tour, on the following day. All accommodation and food is included in the price, as well as two days underground tube tickets. The travel to London is not included, but can be arranged.
For primary schools, the production included is The Lion King, also in London’s West End. Students will have the opportunity to participate in a Lion King Workshop (in association with the Walt Disney Company) and a pre-theatre meal at the Rainforest Cafe. On the second day, the itinerary takes school groups to London Zoo, where they will be provided with a packed lunch.
Prices start at £99 per student, and there are free places available for teachers.
